This scheme is aimed at international students for whom English is not their first language. 

Moving away from home can be a daunting prospect wherever ‘home’ may be, but we know that it can be an extra challenge for international students and any family members who come with them. Fiona Barnard, Honorary Global Chaplain, is happy to talk to you and offer support in getting used to a new culture, practising your everyday English-speaking skills and engaging more with life in the UK. Fiona can also link you with a local family for occasional social meetings.

Local Link

Befrienders are local people who want you to feel at home in 精东传媒 and enjoy your time in Scotland. They are volunteers who can assist you practise your English speaking skills and share details about Scottish culture. They may meet you in a café or in their homes 2 to 3 times a semester.  Please contact the Chaplaincy for further details.

Faith and storytelling

We invite you to tell your stories, to listen to the stories of others and to reflect on stories from the Bible. All are welcome, of any faith or philosophy of life. Students who wish to develop their English-speaking skills especially value these relaxed evenings.

If your partner or an adult family member (non-student) is interested in English lessons (run by Fife Council) or a social group, please contact Fiona Barnard.
