The Assistant Chaplain, Bill Shackman
Interfaith, Environmental and Digital
As Assistant Chaplain, I invite you to come by my office
or contact me with any questions, quandaries, moral
dilemmas, personal problems, or anything else you would
like to get off your chest. My door is always open. I am a
good listener, and I enjoy sharing home baking. But don’t
be surprised if you leave my office with more questions than
you arrived with. I believe in questions.
As an interfaith chaplain, I work with students of all religions, philosophies, outlooks, and gender identities. In my work with the Interfaith Steering Group and Interfaith Encounters, I try to foster dialogue by establishing respect for people of all faiths. And I believe there is also room for a
spirituality that does not involve faith in any god. I strive to learn from all people, and I accept all people with respect.
I also support the Chaplaincy’s environmental program. So if you would like to get out in nature, help with our Garden for Reflection, do some conservation work, or get involved with sustainability issues, please be in touch.
I have worked in synagogues and schools as a Jewish interfaith educator in Chicago (my hometown), Jerusalem, New York City, Salt Lake City, and Florence, Italy. I love to see the world, but I love 精东传媒 best of all. I have lived here, with my wife Emily and three wonderful children for fifteen years.
If you spot me surfing on my paddleboard at the beach or playing my bouzouki at the Whey Pat,
please don’t hesitate to say hello.
