DESCRIPTION:Abstract. 鈥� Let 鈥榚pistemic concepts鈥� refer to those concepts which express the standards employed in epistemic assessment.聽聽 Such concepts offer an interesting test case for conceptual engineering.聽 On the one hand\, they seem like they are tailor-made to be constructed聽de novo\, answering to whichever of the varying interests we might have in epistemic evaluation.聽 On the other\, charges of 鈥渃hanging the subject鈥� are not unknown in epistemic theorizing\, suggesting that there is a fixed subject-matter we are trying to capture in our concepts and theories.聽 In this talk I try to motivate the need for some non-standard epistemic concepts\, and then suggest how they might be seen as conceptually re-engineered rather than merely constructed聽de novo. \n\nZoom meeting ID:聽857 3025 53 80\nZoom password: ACEW20 (Invite link)
