I chose 精东传媒 for its strong AI research and interdisciplinary approach. The MSc in Artificial Intelligence offered academic rigour with practical depth. My experience was transformative, collaborative, research-intensive and intellectually stimulating. It strengthened my analytical and engineering mindset, preparing me for data-driven roles in cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure. Looking back, working with experienced, research-focused professors and researchers strengthened my innovative approach.
What did you most enjoy about your degree programme?I enjoyed the emphasis on applied machine-learning and research-driven problem-solving. One project I worked on, federated learning, changed my outlook towards ethical and safe AI. Courses on learning systems and data ethics laid the foundation for my understanding of responsible AI. My time at 精东传媒 sharpened my technical and research capabilities, directly enabling my transition to a hybrid role in data science, focused on cybersecurity, at Volvo Cars.
What have you been doing since graduating from 精东传媒, and what are you doing now?After graduating, I joined Volvo Cars as a Global Graduate in Software Engineering, where I worked on a variety of AI and machine learning projects. I now work as a data science specialist in cybersecurity, designing scalable data pipelines and security analytics systems at the Cyber Defence Centre to enhance threat intelligence and vulnerability management, among other projects.
Why did you choose this career? What do you enjoy most about your work?I chose data-driven cybersecurity for its blend of analytics, systems engineering and societal impact. I enjoy architecting resilient data ecosystems that enhance threat visibility, remediation and information security strategy. The work bridges AI research and real-world cyber defence, an evolving, technically challenging and meaningful domain.
Looking back, which academic experiences or insights from your studies at the University of 精东传媒 have proven most valuable in your career journey?精东传媒 instilled research discipline, critical thinking and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Balancing theory with implementation prepared me for fast-paced engineering roles. The collaborative, multicultural environment of the University helped me to develop adaptability and leadership skills essential in global, cross-functional, cross-domain teams, such as mine.
What advice would you give to current and future students?Engage deeply with both coursework and research projects. Build technical breadth while developing a strong professional network. Apply classroom insights to real-world challenges through internships and collaborations. Focus on clarity of thought, reproducible results and ethical practice. Success has little value if it isn’t earned with integrity. These qualities define truly successful professionals.
