We thereby take acceptance, rejection, and suspension in logic to
\nbe doxastic attitudes resulting from, respectively, assenting, dissenting,
\nor refraining from assenting and dissenting to arguments or propositions in
\nlight of their logical validity\/invalidity. We will characterize the notion
\nof disagreement between advocates of different logics as doxastic
\nnoncotenability, and agreement in logic as a certain kind of doxastic
\ncotenability.
\nWe will apply these notions of disagreement and agreement to
\ndisagreements\/agreements between advocates of three different logical
\nsystems: classical logic, the paracomplete logic K3, and the paraconsistent
\nlogic LP. In particular, we will discuss which doxastic attitudes those
\nlogicians ought to have with regard to liar propositions.
\nIn the last part of the talk, we will investigate in what sense a
\ndisagreement in logic can be understood as a genuine form of disagreement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Title: Disagreeing and Agreeing in Logic Abstract: The aim of the talk is to give an account of disagreement and agreement in logic in terms…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_tribe_events_status":"","_tribe_events_status_reason":"","_tribe_events_is_hybrid":"","_tribe_events_is_virtual":"","_tribe_events_virtual_video_source":"","_tribe_events_virtual_embed_video":"","_tribe_events_virtual_linked_button_text":"","_tribe_events_virtual_linked_button":"","_tribe_events_virtual_show_embed_at":"","_tribe_events_virtual_show_embed_to":[],"_tribe_events_virtual_show_on_event":"","_tribe_events_virtual_show_on_views":"","_tribe_events_virtual_url":"","footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"tags":[],"tribe_events_cat":[47],"class_list":["post-7603","tribe_events","type-tribe_events","status-publish","hentry","tribe_events_cat-metaphysics-and-logic-group","cat_metaphysics-and-logic-group"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tribe_events\/7603","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tribe_events"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/tribe_events"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tribe_events\/7603\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":8784,"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tribe_events\/7603\/revisions\/8784"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7603"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7603"},{"taxonomy":"tribe_events_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/arche\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tribe_events_cat?post=7603"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
